24 September 2007
The internet exhibition, called UK At Home, aims to reveal the living rooms of thousands of households.
Participants are being asked to take a photo of their living room and send it to www.ukathome.co.uk, where it will be displayed.
Fifty professional photographers are taking part in the project. Other participants include a royal memorabilia collector in Wembley, who has filled each room of their home with a different theme.
John Easterby, who is leading the project, said: "The word 'home' itself means something very special to us Brits yet, at the same time, it also evokes different things for each of us."
Rick Smolan, who is also involved in the scheme, added: "By the end of 2007, 1.5 billion people will be carrying camera-phones with them day and night.
"The ability to shoot and then instantly share images is dramatically changing the way humanity sees itself and how each of us tells our own stories."
