Charm of the Human Computer

In the latest show from surprise 2004 Perrier-winner Will Adamsdale, he sets out to explain his aversion to computers - 'the enemy' as he describes them - while poking fun at his own cyberspace ineptitude.

Part stand-up confessional, part interactive performance installation - albeit one mostly made up of computer icon props straight from the drawer marked: Sticky Back Plastic - he creates an alternative universe in which he's a cog in the computer machine. Think Alice In Wonderland but with Adamsdale falling down a memory bank rather than a rabbit hole.

So when a member of the audience uses a giant arrow to click on the set's drop-down menu, for instance, he performs a variety of programs including some bad line dancing.

The show loses some momentum when our ghost in the machine embarks on an epic quest to stave off a killer virus. But Adamsdale has charm and witty one-liners to burn.

Until Aug 26 (not today, Aug 13 or 20), Traverse 3: The University of Edinburgh Drill Hall, various times, £11 and £16.
