Critic's Choice: Top 5 Comedy

Rhona Cameron
Soho Theatre, W1

These days it is hard to be a high-profile stand up comedian without adding a few more strings to your bow. Cameron is typical, notching up an autobiography, a recent novel, a sitcom and, most famously, an appearance on I'm a Celebrity ... Here is a chance to catch her doing what she does best, talking about her various neuroses on stage with wit, honesty and considerable skill. (0870 429 6883). Until Saturday 22 Sept, 9.30pm.

Jason Byrne
Apollo Theatre, W1

Your last chances to catch this brilliant, unpredictable Dublin livewire in his debut West End run. Byrne is a black belt in improvised comedy: expect the audience to be drawn into his web as he feeds off their responses. On top of that, he has some cracking stories about parenthood, Prince Charles and Steve Irwin. Highly recommended, but those of a nervous disposition should avoid the front. (0870 890 1101). Until Saturday, 7.30pm.

Terry Saunders, Pappy's Fun Cub, Simon Munnery
Bethnal Green Working Men's Club

Lovers of gentle, apolitical giggles should check out this one-off tie-in with comedy fanzine The Fix. Saunders is a storytelling comedian, very much in the Daniel Kitson/Josie Long introverted indie kid mould; if.comedy nominees Pappy's Fun Club is an exuberantly silly sketch group; and veteran Munnery was probably doing his sublime surreal gags before many of Pappy's fans were born. (07854 370351) Sunday, 8.30pm.

Russell Brand, Mark Thomas & many more
Carling Apollo

A one-off organised to support the legal challenge to get a corruption investigation into BAE Systems re-opened, but you can bet most of the crowd wlll be here for the terrific comics rather than the cause. An excellent lengthy bill includes Russell Brand, Mark Thomas, Omid Djalili, Simon Amstell, Mark Steel, Ed Byrne, Josie Long and Uncle Tom Cobleigh. Sorry, we've just heard Uncle Tom Cobleigh can't make it. (0870 606 3400) Sunday, 7.30pm.

Al Murray – Pub Landlord
London Palladium, W1

Beer, banter and bigotry — it can only mean Al Murray's brilliantly nationalistic Pub Landlord, returning with his acclaimed last raft of opinions, entitled And Another Thing ... There are two shows here today, so if you can get into the early one you can do a whole evening's drinking afterwards, which is what the Landlord would have wanted — beer for the fellas, white wine for the ladies, of course. (0870 8901 108) Sunday 5pm and 8pm.
