Disregard for sacred cows

It would have been comforting to believe the tirading, foul-mouthed, manic little man on stage was a persona, but then Jerry Sadowitz doesn't do comforting. What he does do is hilarious, cutting-edge and insightful social commentary.

As the majority of the Fringe tiptoes around the Madeleine McCann story, Sadowitz stomps all over the potential minefield - and it's as dazzling as his incredible sleight of hand magic tricks shown up-close on a huge TV screen. Sadowitz is terrifying. 'Are you a f***ing journalist, ya f***ing c***?' he growls at the front row, his invective not lessening one iota when he discovers the unfortunate man isn't. It's worse; he's American.

Loads of comics boast a disregard for sacred cows and boundaries; here is a genuine misanthrope. He's also one of the funniest comedians and most talented magicians you'll ever have the honour of watching.

Until Aug 27 (not Aug 14), Udderbelly's Pasture, 8.50pm, £12.50 and £14.50.
