It is the first time any of the 800 manuscripts, which have transformed understanding of the Torah - the Jewish holy book - have been seen in England.
The scroll will be unveiled at the British Library on Friday to open the library's exhibition Sacred: Discover What We Share, which brings together some of the oldest texts fromJudaism, Christianity and Islam.
The sheepskin fragment dates from about AD50 and is on loan from a museum in Paris. It shows verses from the Psalms.
Other highlights of the exhibition include the Hebrew Codex London - one of the 20 oldest Torah manuscripts in the world - and one of the world's oldest surviving Korans.
The library will also show the Codex Sinaiticus - the oldest complete copy of the Greek New Testament.
Exhibition curator Graham Shaw said: "These three religions account for how many billions of people conduct their lives."
Sacred: Discover What We Share runs from Friday until 23 September.
