Renny Harlan’s thriller-cum-action movie has wrestler John Cena as a New Orleans cop who, having apprehended Aidan Gillen’s robber, finds him escaped from prison and extracting revenge by kidnapping his wife (Ashley Scott).

The villain sets him 12 almost impossible tasks to get her back and it seems an age before the finale blasts its way towards a satisfactory ending.

Apart from the palpably improbable storyline, Harlan shows a massive disregard for characterisation, and so much bang-bang editing that you scarcely know where you are.

As for the acting, Cena proves his no more than marginal expressiveness in the field of movies.

Gillen is much better as the nasty thief but anyone who saw him in Glengarry Glen Ross or Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me in the West End knows he’s slumming it in this.
