Birdwatchers deserves nothing but respect

Marco Bechis avoids all the usual clichés in his stunning portrait of a Brazilian tribe on the verge of extinction.

Nadio (Ambrosio Vilhava) and his people are not noble savages — they are brutal, have hang-ups about sex and do not know the best way to proceed.

The real life Guarani-Kaiowa Indians who play these characters deserve our sympathy. Their acting deserves nothing but respect.
