This is another high-octane example of the Hong Kong anti-drug thriller from Derek Yee, who made the atmospheric One Nite in Mongkok. Strong performances from Daniel Wu as an undercover cop and Andy Lau as a veteran drug baron, sick and hoping the cop will succeed him in business, help the film along.

A horrific opening scene in which a young girl tries to take the needle out of her hooked mother’s arm shows that Yee is determined to take the message seriously.
