A frustrating documentary about a frustrating man. In a career spanning almost 60 years, Roger Corman has enjoyed spotting talent in others, earning a fast buck and - occasionally - making bona-fide cult classics. He hasn't even tried to make a good film since the Seventies but no one here asks why.

Instead, we're asked to rain curses on Steven Spielberg (the man who apparently stole Corman's shtick and sold out to The Man). Though always happy to curse Spielberg, I reckon the truth lies elsewhere. Corman stepped out of his comfort zone once (with provocative, beautifully shot race movie The Intruder) and took fright at the hostility it aroused. He liked the idea of rebellion. The reality blew his mind.
