France's Depp and Pitt are pain in the butt

It is not easy to like the two young men who louchely inhabit this film from Christophe Honoré, even though they are acted by Romain Duris and Louis Garrel, France's answer to Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt.

They are, in fact, a pain in the butt as they suffer young women to bed them, ignore their worried father and generally alienate themselves from the world at large.

Yet Dans Paris has a certain style and a modicum of wit to balance all the Gallic chic.

Clearly Honoré is talented, but only towards the end does the tale come together with conviction, and for me, that was too late.
