Guy's a capital gangland geezer

This is British director Guy Ritchie at work on his latest film in London early this morning.

On the basis that one should stick to formulas which have worked in the past, Ritchie - almost 10 years after he shot to fame with Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels in 1998 - has returned to the theme of London's underworld.

The director, 38, was on the streets of east London in the early hours today, filming scenes for his latest movie outside a nightclub. The film, RocknRolla, written and directed by Ritchie, revolves around a cheeky scam but, to bring it up to date, also features a Russian mobster's shady land deal.

While Ritchie was in the director's chair until 1.30am filming the actor Geoff Bell - playing a character called Fred the Head - near Tower Bridge, his wife Madonna was busy in New York buying another house.

RocknRolla also stars Mission Impossible II actress Thandie Newton and it is due for release next year.
