Hoop dreams in Gunning For That No 1 Spot

Adam Yauch, founding member of the Beastie Boys, presents us with eight young men who have been selected from high school as future stars of the NBA.

Though they are undeniably brilliant basketball players, they are exceedingly dull fellows otherwise, so Yauch goes in for the sort of "kinetic" film-making that he must think makes up for it.

The rookies are wooed by as many sneaker companies as groupies but their carers see that they concentrate on the game. To concentrate on the film you have to be a basketball fan, or just a basket case.
