Behind a fleet of police motorcycles, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who rose to fame in cult TV series Spaced and the film Shaun of the Dead, were joined in Leicester Square by director Edgar Wright, who co-wrote the film with Pegg.

Fellow cast members Timothy Dalton, Paddy Considine and Edward Woodward also attended.
In the film, London's finest police officer Nicholas Angel (played by Pegg) is sent to a sleepy West Country village, where he is partnered with oafish Danny Butterman (Frost).
But all is not as it seems in this supposedly crime-free part of England. Pegg said at the premiere: "It's about a hotshot cop who goes down to the countryside and gets embroiled in a whole lot of heck."
He added: "We just write comedy as best we can. The inspiration for the film came from a lot of action movies, a lot of films we've grown up with, but when it comes to jokes you've just got to kind of feel it."
When asked tonight about his comedy partnership with Pegg, Frost said: "We've been friends for fifteen years and we have a wonderful unspoken bond, I guess, and it transfers to the screen. We love each other and we love working together."
He added that the film is "a two hour romp. Who doesn't like a romp?".
Alongside Pegg and Frost, the film's impressive cast includes Jim Broadbent, Steve Coogan, Martin Freeman, Bill Nighy and Paul Freeman.
Celebrities at tonight's premiere also included Extras star Stephen Merchant, The Mighty Boosh comedy duo Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt, TV illusionist Derren Brown and comedian and actor Keith Allen.
