Jungle jaunt is a house of horrors

A jungle-set thriller that desperately wants to be seen as a loose-limbed comment on post-9/11 tensions, Paradise Lost pits a bunch of carefree American, English and Australians against a Rio doctor who loathes everything about the "plundering" West.

Josh Duhamel stars as Alex, the backpacker who leads his buddies to an idyllic Brazilian beach; Miguel Lunardi is the wily physician who lures them into his house of horrors.

Director John Stockwell pushes a censorious, not to mention hypocritical, anti-sex message.

Presumably it's OK to look at nubile beach babes; just make sure you don't touch.
