Mishma shows a controversial life

Reader Rating 0

Japanese author Yukio Mishima wrote 35 novels, 25 plays, 200 short stories and eight volumes of essays before his ritual suicide at the age of 45.

He formed his own private army to restore Japan to the Emperor and thereby reignite the country’s rich heritage of tradition and honour.

Paul Schrader’s 1985 biopic necessarily guts his controversial life — but the visual style is superb, Philip Glass contributes a haunting score and Ken Ogata makes an impressive Mishima.
