This weird but wonderful movie from South Korean writer-director Yim Phil-Sung is more Angela Carter than the Brothers Grimm. Father-to-be Eun-soo (Chun Jeong-myoung) crashes his car while talking on his mobile.

He wakes up in a forest where a teenage girl(Shim Eun-kyoung) takes him to an old house where her parents and two siblings live. He stays the night before getting lost in the forest again and returning to find the parents gone and a request from them to look after the kids.

The nightmare which follows leads him to discover the baleful truth about the family and the fate of several others who, like him, stumbled across the house.

This black fairytale is wonderfully decorated — the house itself is a kitsch masterpiece — and directed with a real sense of Freudian dystopia. Clearly Yim Phil-Sung is a film-maker to watch.
