Ritchie to direct new gangster movie

Guy Ritchie is returning to movie-making with another gangster film. He is to direct the low-budget RockNRolla this summer.

Ritchie will also write and produce the project, which is in the same vein as his previous films Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The British director will be hoping for cinematic success after a run of flops. His first two films were box office hits.

But Swept Away, which starred Ritchie's wife Madonna as a spoiled wife shipwrecked on a desert island, was panned by critics and went straight-to-video in the UK.

Follow-up Revolver was also a critical disaster.
Ritchie, 38, is currently working on a crime drama, Suspect, for US TV.
