Critic's choice: best weekend gigs

OMD reform to play at Hammersmith Apollo, while nu-ravers Klaxon, country act Wilco, and an acoustic set from Kooks singer Luke Pritchard are also on the list of top gigs this weekend.

Klaxons
Shepherd's Bush Empire, W12
Three shows from the dayglo nu-ravers, including a Saturday matinee for their numerous younger fans. After all the early hype, they didn't end up radically reinventing music in the end, but their unfailingly energetic, electronica-tinged rock still won them plenty of fans.
(0870 771 2000) Tonight, 7pm, Sat 19 May, 3pm and 7pm.

OMD
Hammersmith Apollo, W6
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark's Andy McCluskey may be the man who gave the world Atomic Kitten but now his old band has reformed in a bid for renewed credibility as influential syn thpoppers. With founder member Paul Humphreys, who left the group in 1989, they're planning to perform their classic 1981 album Architecture & Morality track by track.
(0870 400 0700). Tonight, Sat 19 May, 7pm.

Wilco
Shepherd's Bush Empire, W12
The band who turned alt.country into so much more than cowboy songs made by cool people, Wilco have had a turbulent time of it but have made plenty of stunning, forward-looking music while they suffer. However, even after adding jazz guitarist Nels Cline to their number, latest album Sky Blue Sky, while still lovely, is their least experimental in years.
(0870 771 2000). Sun 20, Mon 21 May, 7pm.

Clash Club
Luminaire, NW6
Clash magazine puts on another Saturday night at Kilburn's much-praised Luminaire venue, this one sure to generate a severe queue of those desperate to see a rare solo acoustic set from Kooks singer Luke Pritchard.
(020 7372 8668). Sat 19 May, 7pm.

Good Charlotte
Brixton Academy, SW9
Maryland pop punk group who once sounded like Green Day but now, on fourth album Good Morning Revival, have discovered emo. They've done well to stay relevant to the kids for this long, but might be getting a bit desperate at this point.
(0870 771 2000). Fri 18 May, 7pm.
