NME New Music Tour
Koko, NW1
The NME has a new favourite band as often as its writers change their socks, which is more often than you might think. In recent years it has been sending fresh batches of hopefuls out on tour every few months, most likely judging the direction of its future coverage by the adoring or hostile reactions the newcomers draw from curious audiences. Having chosen badly when deciding the headliners of the last road trip, one-hit irritants The Automatic, the mag might fare better this time around with bouncy Devon quartet The Rumble Strips, who bring a scuzzy edge to the hornpacked pop of Dexys Midnight Runners. Then there's the even more impressive Pull Tiger Tail, who have an epic guitar-pop sound despite just being a trio, mildly twee Californians the Little Ones and punky Brighton duo Blood Red Shoes. If past form is anything to go by, at least one of these bands is going on to much bigger things. Take your pick. (0870 432 5527).
Tonight, 7.30pm.
