Maximo Park
Last two of three nights around London for the north-eastern indie band, who recently scored their biggest hit with Our Velocity. While second album Our Earthly Pleasures offers more of the same angular rock, an enthusiastic public would argue that their lively sound ain't broke.
Shepherd's Bush Empire, W12 (0870 771 2000). Tonight, 7pm.
Forum, NW5 (0870 534 4444). Sat 12 May, 7pm.
Lionel Richie
Wembley Arena
Second trip to Wembley this year for the ageless crooner, plugging smooth latest album Coming Home but still more than happy to air hits such as Hello and All Night Long (All Night) for the billionth time.
(0870 060 0870). Sat 12, Sun 13 May, 7pm.
The Waterboys
Albert Hall, SW7
Book of Lightning, the first Waterboys album since 2003, unearths a couple of unused songs from 1988's Fisherman's Blues sessions, creating a strong link to the folk rocker's finest work and ensuring that, even on the new tracks, frontman Mike Scott sounds more inspired than he has been in some time.
(020 7589 8212). Fri 11 May, 7pm.
Au Revoir Simone
ICA, SW1
All-girl trio from Brooklyn, whose current claim to fame is that creepy director David Lynch recently named them as his favourite new band. But you don't have to have a major dark side to fall for the vintage synthpop and swooning vocals of lovely recent album The Bird of Music.
(020 7930 3647). Sat 12 May, 9pm.
Roger Waters
Earls Court, SW5
That Live 8 Pink Floyd reunion still looks extremely unlikely to happen again, so make do with this opportunity to see one member perform Dark Side of the Moon track by track, as faithful to the epic original sound as possible.
(0870 903 9033). Tonight, Sat 12 May, 7pm.
