Wireless Festival

With all the great bands and none of the camping (and some would argue, none of the atmosphere either), in three years Wireless has become an essential date on London's gig calendar. Following last night's opening salvo by the White Stripes, we now have Faithless (Friday), Daft Punk (Saturday) and Kaiser Chiefs (Sunday) on headlining duties, while other must-sees including LCD Soundsystem, CSS, the Cribs and Robyn will make the daytime worthwhile.

Meltdown: Forest of No Return
Royal Festival Hall, SE1
Producer Hal Willner, organiser of past tribute nights to artists including Leonard Cohen and Tim Buckley, turns his idiosyncratic eye to the music of classic Disney films at the behest of Meltdown curator Jarvis Cocker. A guestlist including Pete Doherty, Shane MacGowan and Nick Cave suggests that the evening won't be as saccharine as it sounds on paper.

The Devon space-rockers have long played every gig as if it was at Wembley Stadium, and now they finally get to do it for real, twice. Forget George Michael's middle-of-the road first shows at Wembley - this will be the real triumphant opening fanfare.
