Hopalong Spice needs a support act

Emma Bunton has sprained her ankle, causing concern that she may not be fit enough to take part in the Spice Girls' London reunion.

Baby Spice had her leg in a black cast and was on crutches at Los Angeles airport as the group "signed" the Virgin Atlantic plane - dubbed Spice One - on which they will return to the UK.

Bunton, 31, said: "I had a tumble on stage in Las Vegas and I'm hobbling around on crutches.

But I'm sure to make a speedy recovery and see all our fans at the O2." A spokesman for the group insisted the injury would not affect the 17-night residency which starts on Saturday.

The 02 gigs are sold out but a pair of front-row tickets is still available in the Standard's online Christmas auction. Bid for them at www.standard.co.uk/auction
