Razorlight cut through Scissor Sisters

Razorlight claimed the top spot in the UK singles chart, beating the Scissor Sisters and former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff.

The Anglo-Swedish rock group jumped 14 places to take the chart crown with their song America.

The song is the second single from their self-titled album, which took the fourth spot on the UK albums chart.

Scissor Sisters had held onto the charts summit for four weeks with their single I Don't Feel Like Dancin' until yesterday.

Las Vegas band The Killers rocketed to the top of the albums chart with the newly-released Sam's Town.

But their single When You Were Young dropped four places to number six.

Hasselhoff hit number three with his pop tune Jump In My Car, thanks to support from fan campaigns and radio stations.

The Hoff managed to garner more fans than P Diddy (featuring Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger), who was at four with Come To Me.

And he also beat French DJ Bob Sinclar, who reached number five with Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now).

Gothic group Evanescence went straight into the album charts at number two with The Open Door.

And Lily Allen clung on to the Top Ten but fell one place with both her album Alright Still and single LDN to numbers five and seven respectively.

Australian rock band Jet hit number 13 with their second record Shine On after a three-year absence from the UK album chart.
