Stars form 'superband' to help homeless charity

A "superband" made up of some of the indie music scene's biggest names is set to perform in aid of homelessness charity Crisis.

Paul Weller, Beth Ditto, Supergrass, Graham Coxon and The Enemy are among the acts who have joined forces for the Consequences Live gig and to make a record.

The song, produced by Paul Epworth, will be performed one time only during the all-day gig at Camden's Roundhouse on 2 March.

With guitars from The Enemy, a bassline from Andy Rourke of The Smiths, vocals from Weller and Ditto, drums from Supergrass's Danny Goffey and rhythm guitar from Graham Coxon, the record was built layer by layer to create a Phil Spectorstyle "wall of sound".

The "superband" was put together by Crisis ambassador Pearl Lowe, the singer-turned fashion designer.

Andy Page, head of fundraising at Crisis, said: "The track is set to be a piece of musical history and a key creative milestone, not to mention a great tune, from three generations of indie rock's most respected performers."

Tickets for Consequences Live cost from £45.
