The Go! Team will be irresistable come festival season

Those who found Mr Motivator's presenting style a tad negative and unenergetic will enjoy an evening in the company of The Go! Team, the UK's premier party band. The Brighton-based six-piece released their excellent third album, Rolling Blackouts, last month. But there's only one way to experience their delirious dance-rock: live.
With its hedonistic history, Heaven provided the perfect platform for their hour-long show - even if there are oil drums with better acoustics than this murky underground lair.
Not that something as trivial as a tinny sound was going to upset Ninja. The band's irrepressible frontwoman (real name: Nkechi Ka Egenamba) was part rock singer, part hyperactive aerobics instructor as she augmented every chorus with a fist pump or high kick.
In such a visual show, lyrics were a low priority. Ladyflash revolved around the imaginative refrain: "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah", while at another point Ninja seemed to be reciting passages of the phonetic alphabet.
Nevertheless, recent single Tornado proved that the band were no strangers to a melodic chorus, while the rap-rock of The Power Is On sounded like an impossibly cheery take on Rage Against The Machine.
Ninja's insistence that certain songs "will not work unless you all jump" prompted pogo-ing from about half the crowd. But then, it was only a Tuesday; come festival season, they'll be irresistible.
Meanwhile, if you're looking for fun-packed pop to warm you through the winter months, make The Go! Team your go-to group.
