The Lady is a reigning champ

It was clear from the earliest stages of last night's spirited show from one of the UK rap scene's hottest names that the meaning of the word "lady" has truly been mangled beyond all recognition.
Previous generations would have hesitated to apply the epithet to a girl who swore like a trooper, challenged the audience to a burping contest and related a charming story about mooning a taxi driver.
However, we were watching one of the most promising British urban artists to appear for a long time.
Celebrating Halloween by sporting an evil doll mask, the 19-year-old revelled in her poison dwarf image as she launched into Blah Blah, fusing the tough synthetic sound of grime with elements of punk. It was all a bit overbearing.
Far better were songs such as Random, whose judicious use of the bass guitar allowed her frenzied - but intricately constructed - raps to shine.
While much of her inter-song banter was juvenile and just plain silly, she did a brilliant job of getting the crowd on side.
Like a tiny, southern Vicky Pollard, the self-styled "ragga midget" dedicated her latest "mean-spirited composition", Tango, to those who wear too much fake tan. The hilariously nasty chorus ends: "Bitch, you look like the Tango man."
As she wrapped up a short but energetic set with a rugged rendition of Public Warning, her rap skills, humour and natural showmanship emphasised the fact that her skin colour is her least interesting attribute.
