Weekend clubs: Electric to gogo

Ministry Of Sound marks its 15th birthday, fab Soho record shop Phonica celebrates European dance sound and Grime finds an arty home at the ICA's new monthly night Dirty Canvas...

There can't be many drum'n'bass DJs to have guested at Mark Moore's dressed-up electro-fest Electrogogo, but John B isn't your typical d'n'b producer. He's been making major ripples in the stern world of breakbeat not only for wearing eye-shadow and his peroxide blond, crazy scientist hair, but more importantly for his groundbreaking recent LP, Electrostep. Imagine tearing d'n'b fused with punk, rock, grunge, vocoders, trance and breakneck remixes of Howard Jones, Scissor Sisters and covers of Tainted Love and Hey Mickey. Drum'n'bass has rarely been so silly, experimental and fresh.

Thurs, Electrogogo, Madame Jo Jo's, 8 Brewer Street W1, 8pm to 3am, £6, £4 concs. Tel: 020 7734 3040. Tube: Piccadilly Circus

The world's first superclub, Ministry Of Sound, marks its 15th birthday this week, and it is impossible to deny the bus depot turned epic warehouse club's impact in shaping global club culture. Tomorrow's Soul Heaven brings together vocal house illuminati, such as Latin-tinged Osunlade, Baltimore's DJ Spen, and Wookie's uplifting bassline-garage. Saturday gathers seven of Ministry's weekend residents from the past 15 years, including Jazzy M, CJ Mackintosh and Steve Agnello, as well as coaxing Danny Rampling out of retirement. Experimental theatre troupe Blue Man Group will also put in a colourful appearance.

Fri and Sat, Ministry Of Sound, Gaunt Street, tomorrow 10.30pm to 5am, Sat 11pm to 9am, tomorrow £12 adv, £15 door; Sat £20 adv. Tel: 0870 060 0100. www.ministryofsound.com Tube: Elephant & Castle

Fab Soho record shop Phonica marks its third birthday with a line-up celebrating the dominant European dance sound: minimal house, techno and electro. Producer and DJ du jour Loco Dice, who has been championing the sound for more than four years at Ibiza's crazed carry-on DC10 headlines, showcasing funky precision electro, techno and house. Henrik Schwarz who brings a jazz edge to his interpretation of detailed, layered dance music, performs live. Phonica's Heidi, Simon Rigg and more also appear.

Fri, Phonica, The Key, Goods Yard N1, 10pm to 6am, £10 adv, £12 door.
Tel: 020 7025 6070. Tube: King's Cross

Grime finds an arty home at the ICA's new monthly night Dirty Canvas. Consisting of DJs and live performances, Saturday's stellar line-up features Boy Better Know (the deft and humorous wordsmiths Wiley, JME, Skepta) and the hottest crew of the year, the teenage Ruff Sqwad. DJs include dubstep pioneer Plastician and Cameo. The energy levels will be off the scale, the rapping fierce.

Sat, Dirty Canvas, ICA, The Mall SW1, 7.30pm to 1.30am, £6.50, £5.50 concs. Tel: 020 7930 3647. www.ica.org.uk Tube: Charing Cross
