Winehouse wins and Lily loses

Lily Allen turned losing out at the Brits into a celebration - by drowning her sorrows over her disappointment with hellraiser Liam Gallagher.

Meanwhile, fellow Londoner Amy Winehouse toasted her success at being crowned best British female.

The winners at the Brits

Lily, 21, walked away empty-handed despite being nominated for three awards last night. She was beaten to best female by Winehouse, best album by the Arctic Monkeys and best breakthrough act by the Fratellis.

So she put on her best yellow hair ribbon and joined notorious Brits hellraisers Oasis for their own private afterparty. The band, celebrating the outstanding contribution trophy, took over members-lounge The Cuckoo Club - and ordered so much alcohol that extra ice had to be specially brought in by van.

By the time she left just before 4am, Lily - all smiles during the ceremony despite her failure to win - had acquired some of the infamous fighting Gallagher spirit. Leaving the club with the Oasis frontman and his girlfriend Nicole Appleton, there were riotous scenes as Allen brandished a Christian Louboutin stiletto at the throng of photographers, while a surly Liam refused to sign autographs for fans - but scrawled in marker pen on paparazzi's camera lenses.

One onlooker said: "The police had to be called because cars were getting scratched, people were getting squashed. Liam was just being his usual cocky self, which riled some fans who'd been waiting for autographs and started chanting, 'who are you?' And Lily seemed to have the Liam snarl down to a tee."

Her similarly hellraising father Keith Allen left earlier, snarling: "No, I didn't have a good time tonight. My daughter-Lily didn't win a f***ing thing."

Meanwhile, Winehouse marked her victory with four costume changes - from canary yellow to scarlet, then black and white during the ceremony, to jeans and trainers afterwards.

The Rehab star reined in her celebrations because she was accompanied by her mother and father. But she confessed her proudest moment of the night was "coming off the red carpet and seeing my Dad already pissed - and he doesn't even drink".

The Kooks, Kasabian, Killers and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler ignored official parties to join Oasis at the Cuckoo Club. The Arctic Monkeys even turned up after snubbing the ceremony and recording acceptance videos for their best album and best British group awards.

Later, Take That spoke about former bandmate Robbie Williams, who checked into a clinic this week. Gary Barlow said: "The boys and I hope that he is okay."
