Zeppelin lead the fans to heaven and back

They are all now desperate for a full-blown tour. From rock and pop royalty including Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney to fans who were not even born when Led Zeppelin last played, the reaction to the band's long-awaited reunion was ecstatic.

Many had waited years in the hope of seeing the legendary musicians take the stage again and now hope rumours of a tour are confirmed.

Lester Dales, an accountant "of the right age to be a fan" from Southville, Bedfordshire, had seen them at Knebworth at the end of the Seventies.

Jill Mackenzie, a housewife and mother from near Alton in Hampshire, had been 15 when she saw them at Earls Court in 1975 - or possibly 16 in 1976. Kim Smith, 48, from Wanstead, danced deliriously. "That was so magnificent I cried," she said, adding: "Whatever you can do to get them on a world tour would be great." One of the youngest fans was Jamie Naidoo, 12, from St John's Wood, who was with his uncle Tom Astor, 45. He said: "My friends were begging me to give them the tickets."

Stars in the crowd, who included Priscilla and Lisa-Marie Presley, Jeff Beck, the Gallagher brothers, Steve Winwood and Marilyn Manson were equally as thrilled to have secured seats.

At the party in the IndigO2 venue afterwards, Noel Gallagher was warmly embraced by Naomi Campbell before chatting to actress and rock performer Juliette Lewis, who has just finished her own American tour. She said: "I thought it was magical. The earth was shaking."

Paulo Nutini, who performed in the first half of the concert, said: "They're so intense. Based on tonight, they should tour. If they could do that every night it would be phenomenal."

Tony Catania, a friend of Jason Bonham for 20 years, fuelled rumours of a tour. "He [Jason] was over the moon and I've just spoken to John Paul Jones and he was very shocked. They were all blown away with each other. I don't think it's sunk in yet."
