The Jerusalem Tavern

Perfect Dickensian pub

Jerusalem Tavern
Contender: The Jerusalem Tavern is one of the top pubs in London

21 Aug 2007

No stranger to those who have an interest in good public houses, The Jerusalem Tavern is a serious contender for nomination as one of the best pubs in London.

Converted from a fabulous looking 18th century clockmakers shop, it's the only pub in London owned by the Suffolk-based St. Peter's brewery.

As such, you can usually expect to see their complete range of excellent award-winning Ales, both in bottles and on tap. The place is tiny and the only negative we can attribute here is that it gets seriously busy quite often.

After work is predictably bad, with the lucky winners being the first 2 dozen local workers to arrive from their offices, but the crowds do die down towards closing time.

Overall, if you're lucky enough to find some free seats, the Dickensian feel of the place is perfect for a cosy winter's evening of warming ale and good conversation. Highly recommended.
