Good meeting point: The Queen's Arms

2 Dec 2008

The Queen's Arms is tucked out of site in a small mews not far from Hyde Park. The surrounding colleges explain the high student numbers, but that's not the whole story. It's also a good place to meet before going to see something at the Albert Hall and often shows the effects of major events like the Proms, spilling out into the hapless mews.

It has been refreshed, but it has still kept the high standards that have made this a perennial favourite, including decent beer on the four hand pumps, a selection of Belgian beers, friendly staff and a reasonably priced (if slightly gastro) menu. And we're always pleased to see Sunday Roasts - advertised as available all day Sunday. A lively place, the staff even manage to stay pleasant after a long evening. It's less busy during the day and on weekends, which makes it a good spot to meet in Kensington, if a little off of the beaten track.

NEAREST STATION: Gloucester Road station
FEATURES: disabled facilities, ATM, Cask Marque - regular guest beers, quiz night Monday, TV

Details are correct at the time of publication - please check with venue before booking.
