The Beaconsfield is a sports fan's haven
An ideal match watching venue

7 Jan 2009

The Beaconsfield is a welcoming locals pub, which is mostly geared towards the area's sports fans. There are huge screens at either end, which are often tuned to different channels to allow greater choice, and a series of smaller flat-screen TV's to ensure there is no excuse for missing that vital goal or wicket.

It is near impossible to end up in a blind spot, but with a large bar and two pool tables taking up a lot of space it can sometimes be tough to find a seat to watch the action.

It is a friendly place for a couple of pints at other times and the pub retains a raft of original features, including glass paneling on the walls and carved wooden door frames. The dark ceiling may not be to everyone's taste, but is certainly striking. It's got efficient service and a good variety of clientele, while it is worth mentioning the small yard at the rear is now kitted out with three tables to keep the smokers happy.

NEAREST STATION: Harringay Green Lanes station
FEATURES: real ales, DJ, live music, two pool tables, quiz night Thursday, Sky and Setanta (big screens)

Details are correct at the time of publication - please check with venue before booking.
