The Nags Head

The Nag's Head feels like a real pub

The Nag's Head
Tourists' pub: The Nag's Head

5 Aug 2009

The Nag's Head is a big old pub with a grand Victorian pub interior - some preserved some faked; take a quick look at the lovely old ceramic friezes which adorn the walls and you will see what we mean.

You'll find a fair range of McMullen beers on the hand pumps and a standard range of other lagers on the pumps. It does have the feel of a real pub, rather than an olde worlde tourist attraction, but unfortunately it suffers due to it's proximity to Covent Garden tube; both the Nag's Head and its neighbour can often be filled with every conceivable type of tourist, day tripper and/or tired shopper.

Getting a seat is certainly a hit or miss affair and the atmosphere is accordingly transient. Still, it's definitely not the worst pub in the area and might be suitable as a meeting place out of peak hours.

NEAREST STATION: Covent Garden station

FEATURES: Real ale - all McMullens
