Andover Arms serves great pub grub

Excellent food: Andover Arms

We were rather worried when we heard the Andover Arms had received a makeover, as it has always been somewhat of a sanctuary in the area.

Our latest visit however can confirm that the changes aren't as dramatic as we had feared.

Inside this diminutive pub you'll find a handsome gantried bar serving up a decent range of Fuller's ales.

We seem to recall there previously being wood panelling, but this has been sadly removed and replaced with some politely inoffensive wallpaper. The back room has been tidied up and the whole place has a warm feel.

It's a little less of the traditional back street boozer that it once was and there is more focus on food, but it still feels like a proper pub and - in fairness - the food was great.

Our Thursday night visit found it pleasantly busy, with a good mix of punters and attentive service, coupled with a trio playing some live jazz - all very appropriate for 'Brackenbury Village'.

FOOD REVIEW: Small pub grub menu at not too expensive West London prices. The Burger priced at £9 was excellent, with a generous piece of meat cooked to perfection, alongside some pretty darn tasty chips. Fish and Chips was a reasonabvle £8.50, while we also recall Lamb's Liver at £9.
