The Crane
Great little pub: The Crane

10 Feb 2010

The Crane is located on Armoury Way in Wandsworth, a short distance from the Thames Path.

It's no surprise to find it's a Young's pub, given we're in Young's heartland and almost on top of the old brewery (it's been gone for years now, but nothing's changed).

The Crane's exterior suggests a small, no-nonsense Wandsworth boozer but inside it's a slightly different story. The interior is a slightly bizarre and mismatched combination of a typical local and trendy Hackney bar - although they appear to have done away with the tables set for meals on the one side and put back the pool table and dart board.

They obviously realised who their clientele was and decided to accommodate them. Decent beer and friendly staff and locals and we can't forget the great pub dog in the corner. When it's quiet, it does seem a bit isolated and the sound of the one-way system is a bit overpowering. Overall, it's still a great little pub well worth a visit if you're in the area.

NEAREST STATION: Wandsworth Town station
FEATURES: real ales - all Wells and Young's, dog friendly, traditional pub games, outdoor seating, pool table, TV
