But after speaking to the show's psychologists - a pre-requisite of her departure - she appeared to have a change of heart and re-entered the house in order to sleep on it. She is expected to make a final decision on her future in the house on Tuesday.
Her threats to leave came after Ziggy, with whom she has been having an on-off relationship, told her it was over. The 26-year-old former boyband member ended the relationship in the early hours of yesterday morning telling her: "It's not you, it's me."
So far the couple's tempestuous relationship has dominated the show and drawn criticism from other contestants.
The pair got together within days of Ziggy entering the house. At first the lovebirds were tolerated by their fellow housemates but soon their trysts began to grate on everyone else's nerves.
It was not the first time Ziggy had called an end to the roller coaster love affair.
Rumours of Chanelle's flirtations with fellow Big Brother housemate Billi had him questioning their relationship early on in the saga.
Her threats to walk came a day after the pair had yet another "make or break" chat, which ended with Chanelle declaring: "Obviously you're not happy, so don't talk to me again."
Yesterday Ziggy had tried to explain his decision to end the romance once and for all telling Liam: "I've never really been involved in something like this. She's up and down so much."
He confessed ruefully that he was worried he had ruined her time in the house.
Meanwhile the Posh Spice wannabe was announcing her decision to leave to the rest of the housemates declaring through her tears: "I'm going home. I want to go home."
"How can you do this to us?" a stunned Gerry asked. Even the twins crying and pleading could not persuade her to stay.
After bidding an emotional farewell Chanelle finally left the house but returned moments later after being told she had to talk to the show's psychologists first.
Housemates and viewers have been left waiting and wondering whether Chanelle will go through with her threats to walk or whether the prospect of leaving Ziggy behind will ultimately persuade her to stay.
As for Ziggy, Chanelle's threatened departure left him "feeling like s***," he said.
