Fake 'Australian' gets housemates worried
09 July 2007
Thaila, 26, will stay in character as Pauline with housemates but viewers will see her drop the performance in the diary room. Unbeknown to housemates, this week's task is to expose Pauline as a fake and a phoney. If they succeed they will win a luxury shopping budget but if they fail to rumble her they will get only a basic shopping allowance.
The fake housemate has her own luxurious living area where she slept last night. She is also able to speak to Big Brother on a special kangaroo-shaped telephone and will be given guidance and tasks throughout the week.
Gallery: Housemates welcome Pauline
She told Big Brother most of the housemates were "lovely" but accused Charley Uchea of sucking up so Pauline does not nominate her for eviction.
Last night, Big Brother threw an Australian-themed dinner to help the housemates welcome the new addition. Pauline told the housemates she has premonitions and psychic dreams that accurately predict the future. "I hate talking about it," said Pauline, acting all embarrassed.
But urged on by Gerry Stergiopoulos and Brian Belo, Pauline touched Charley's dinner plate and said: "I'm getting lots of vibes from this. The person who was eating this - don't tell me who - is quite outgoing, quite a bit of an exhibitionist, quite creative."
Charley suggested: "She's stunning and pretty and trendy!" But Pauline concluded: "Quite argumentative."
A worried Charley then asked: "How did you know that about me?"
Charley and fellow housemates Tracey Barnard, Nicky Maxwell and Carole Vincent later discussed the new addition to the household and admitted doubts were creeping in.
Charley said: "You know Carole, she ain't even been in Australia, she's probably been living in London and just picked up the Australian accent." But Carole insisted: "She is Australian."
"Yeah, but living in London," said Charley. She added: "Nothing's ever straightforward with Big Brother."
To complicate things further, the housemates are also being led to believe Welsh nanny Laura has not been evicted, but sent to the Australian Big Brother House instead. Ziggy Lichman and Chanelle Hayes' rocky relationship ended yesterday.
After days of bickering, the couple had a row at 4.30am when Ziggy stayed up play-fighting and chatting while moody and emotional Chanelle wanted to sleep.
Crucially, one of 26-year-old Ziggy's play-fighting partners was Charley - someone that possessive Chanelle has asked him not to speak to. The pair avoided each other until yesterday afternoon when Chanelle finally decided to confront him.
"You obviously don't respect me, because every time I've said 'I don't think you should talk to Charley any more' and you've said 'Yeah' then you've gone and spoken to her again," she said.
"If you're polite to her, that's OK, but play-fighting crosses the line."
With a resigned air, Ziggy snapped back: "Some things you try, and some things work and some things just don't work.
"I feel like any dignity I've got is being taken away in here. Every time I do something I always think 'What's Chanelle gonna say?'.
"I want to be my own person in here and I can't do that when I'm with you."
The heated discussion ended abruptly when Chanelle broke down and left the bedroom to go to the diary room. When she had gone, a sorrowful Ziggy told Carole and Tracey: "I care for her, she's just not the girl for me."
On emerging from the diary room, Chanelle began to pack her things. She was only dissuaded from leaving the house by Brian, Carole and twins Sam and Amanda Marchant.
