Hair straightener row turns up heat in house

A heated argument erupted in the Big Brother house over use of the hair straighteners.

Student Emily Parr burst into tears after her row with Posh Spice wannabe Chanelle Hayes about who should get priority to use the straighteners.

The argument was sparked last night (Day 6) as Chanelle told Emily: "There was no need to be so defensive about the straighteners.

"It took me two seconds. All I wanted to do was use it on this side of my hair and this side of my hair, so why was it like that?"

Emily replied: "It's irrelevant how much hair you've got.

"I was just making a point. If you start giving people priority over luxuries in this house, they'll start expecting it of other things."

Chanelle, who has a Posh Spice-style bob, responded: "It's a simple two-second thing.

"You can have your hair down in natural curls. You can have it up in a bobble, when I can't.

"It is a personal preference for you Emily. For me there is no preference."

The girls were interrupted by a bewildered Ziggy Lichman, the only man in the house, who said: "What's the point arguing about this?"

Chanelle continued, telling Emily: "The point is you just acted like a complete spoiled kid when all I wanted to do was use the straighteners."

The row came after the housemates were banned from using the bathroom indefinitely as a punishment for rule-breaking by housemate Shabnam Paryani.

Yesterday, Shabnam asked Ziggy to nominate her for the first eviction, breaching the rule that housemates are not allowed to try to influence each other's votes.

She said to him: "Will you put me up?" She then added: "I'm sorry that I'm breaking the rules.

"Instead of me walking I'd rather do it that way. I'd be so happy. Just pretend you didn't hear me."

Big Brother then told the dismayed house that the bathroom was out of bounds until further notice.

Ziggy is the only housemate who will choose who to nominate for eviction this week and bookmaker Ladbrokes has said Charley Uchea is hot favourite to get the boot.

Yesterday, spokesman Nick Weinberg said more than 90% of all eviction bets with Ladbrokes have been for the self-styled south London It-girl, shortening her odds from 13/8 to even money.

The firm has also opened a book on how many times Charley will name-drop her cousin, Manchester United footballer Kieran Richardson, in the post-eviction interview - with odds of 5/1 that she will mention him more than five times.

Another male housemate, "bitchy gay wannabe" Rylan Clark, 18, a make-up artist from Essex, will join the house next week, the Daily Star reported today.

A Big Brother spokeswoman said: "I can't confirm anything about the housemates - there's been a few names bandied about."

Ziggy has admitted he will be jealous if other men enter the Big Brother house.

The only male housemate joined Chanelle, Charley and Nicky Maxwell for a night-time snack in the early hours of this morning.

As the four chatted about how the atmosphere in the house would change if more men came in, Nicky joked that Ziggy was "one of the girls now".

He said their behaviour would change if more men came into the house.

He said: "You'll all change, for me it will be funny 'cos I kinda know you and I'll see it."

Nicky asked if he would be jealous and he replied with a simple "yeh".
