Halifax: floated 1997, merged with Bank of Scotland 2001, taken over by Lloyds 2009

Alliance & Leicester: floated 1997, taken over by Santander 2008

National & Provincial: taken over by Abbey 1996

Cheltenham & Gloucester: taken over by Lloyds 1995

Abbey National: taken over by Santander 2004.
