Debt deadline: Greece on brink

Hopes were rising that Greece will sign up to the first 130 billion (£109 billion) bailout from the European Union and International Monetary Fund by the end of today in order to allow it to pay 14.5 billion of debt repayments due on March 20.

Greece has 340 billion of outstanding debts and austerity measures have provoked riots in the country.
