Headhunter gives its vote to the capital with HQ move

London today received a strong vote of confidence as international headhunter and outsourcer Harvey Nash said it had decided to move its headquarters to Heron Tower in the City.

The firm said it had looked at headquarters in New York, Dublin, Zurich and Hong Kong to replace its base in Mayfair. It said there were a number of reasons that London had won out, including its pool of talent and the quality of the Heron Tower.

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: "This is a great example of an ambitious, truly global company recognising why London is the best big city to do business.

"The commitment shown by Harvey Nash is a great sign of confidence in the capital and will provide a welcome boost for jobs and the wider economy. By moving to Heron Tower they have chosen a stunning location for their new home, right in the heart of the City."

Harvey Nash listed its reasons for picking London as:

*The UK's pool of talent, including attracting graduates from the Far East and Asia;

*Silicon Roundabout and the growth of high-tech facilities around the edges of the City;

*Business-friendly attitudes from the Government and the Mayor's office;

*The UK's competitive position in terms of its geographical position;

*The iconic nature of Heron Tower and its green credentials.

Heron Tower on Bishopsgate is the tallest building in the City and has 36 floors. Harvey Nash is moving to the 11th floor. The building is around one third let with tenants including serviced-offices group Landmark and lawyers Mcdermott Will & Emery.

Harvey Nash said it expected to invest up to £2 million in capital expenditure and new technology over the next five months. The total lease expenditure is likely to exceed £10 million over the next 10 years.

Albert Ellis, chief executive of Harvey Nash, said: "London is a fantastic location for all British companies who are exporting services and expanding internationally. And the UK as a whole is on the up.

"The government's focus on emerging markets and in particular China, is in line with our strategy as we expand from our base in Vietnam into China and Australia in the first half of 2012.

"In Asia, London is highly regarded by businesses and governments alike. We are very proud to remain in London."
