CBI hails the rally in manufacturing

British manufacturers are enjoying their strongest export order books since August 1995, the CBI said today.

Almost a third of manufacturers expect their output to rise over the coming three months with just under a fifth expecting a fall.

Ian McCafferty, CBI chief economist, said: "The recovery in the manufacturing sector is well under way."
