Chinese sales lead the way for Premier Farnell

Electronics firm Premier Farnell today posted its strongest second-quarter figures for 10 years, as sales more than doubled in China.

The firm, whose customers include global giants Philips and Nokia, saw revenues jump by 30% to £252.1 million between May and July, with profits rising 47% to £23.8 million.

The performance was led by a 102% sales rise in China, while Premier's sales were up 78% in the Indian market. UK sales were up 25% year-on-year.

The firm said the sales momentum had continued in August, helped by improving global conditions.

Premier upped its interim dividend to 4.4p, while shares rose 8.4p to 248p.
