Clinton Cards slides on spending worries

Shares in Clinton Cards slumped 9% today amid worries over flagging consumer confidence in the run-up to Christmas.

The firm also suffered a 3.9% drop in like-for-like sales at its Clinton stores in the 10 weeks to October 10.

Clinton said that it was "mindful of the difficulties facing the UK economy and its effect on consumer spending".
