Consumer goods moving fast at DS Smith

Packaging and office products company DS Smith today said trading in the first quarter was encouraging, helped by progress in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, and it was confident of the remainder of the year.

"The year is progressing in line with expectations underpinned by continued FMCG demand," DS Smith said.

The company, which recently acquired French packaging firm Otor for about 200 million euros, said it expected Otor to add to both earnings and margins in the first full financial year of ownership.
