Customers large on loyalty for N Brown

N Brown, the mail-order clothes retailer to big men and women, today posted a 13% rise in half-year, pre-tax profit to £41.8 million, as customers stayed loyal to its niche ranges.

Chief executive Alan White said: "Our customers are always more loyal than standard size 12s who can promiscuously shop around on the High Street.

"We solve specific requirements, from wider footwear fittings to larger lingerie," he added.

N Brown bought 14 branches of tall men's clothing retailer High & Mighty out of administration last month.

White said the brand requires "repair work" after being "underinvested in for 10 years".

A High & Mighty catalogue is being launched next month to drive customers to its website and stores.
