Cutbacks start to put Ideal on track

Ideal Shopping Direct, the TV shopping channel company, said its "remedial actions" were starting to pay off as it posted a pre-tax loss of £1.2 million for the six months to the end of June.

The retailer cut stock levels by 59% and improved its customer services, giving it a flat sales revenue of £47 million.

Chairman Paul Wright said: "We are optimistic that we now have a solid platform to drive growth and restore profitability."
