Demand up for post maker Hill & Smith

Crash barrier and lamp post maker Hill & Smith has seen a pick up in demand in the last couple of months and reported a 2% rise in profits in the first half of the year to £20.5 million.

That was despite a 7% fall in sales to £197 million.

The company said its was impossible to say if the recent rise in enquiries and orders would be sustained through the second half, but results for the year would benefit from cost cutting already undertaken.
