Directors of Numis hit by shares error

There were red faces at broker Numis today after it was forced to admit its directors' stock holdings have not been in order.

Non-executive director Tom Bartlam, the former boss of mezzanine finance house ICG, has been temporarily barred from the board as a result.

Numis has found several directors, including chairman Michael Spencer, have not been holding 20,000 shares in Numis as per the articles of association.

The rest of the board have rectified that but Bartlam is in breach of his terms as a director as, for an undisclosed reason, he is unable to raise his stake until next month. At today's price, 20,000 shares would cost £23,500.
