Helen Weir takes over Lloyds UK network

Helen Weir today became the most powerful woman in British banking, as she moved from finance director of Lloyds TSB to head the bank's entire UK retail network.

She replaces Terri "the human cyclone" Dial, who resigned last month to head Citigroup's retail business in the US.

Weir became finance director four years after moving from retailer Kingfisher where she infamously received a £334,000 relocation package for moving from Southampton to Buckinghamshire.

Weir was paid a total of £1.3 million last year.
